You will attend field training the summer after your sophomore year of college. If you have finished two years of the Air Force ROTC program already, then Field Training will last four weeks. If you are just now joining the AFROTC program, you must go through an additional 60 hours of classroom instruction that will extend your Field Training experience to ten weeks total.
Location of Field Training
Currently, field training is held at Ellsworth, Maxwell, or Tyndall air force bases. The Air Force frequently switches the bases, but you will be told by your battalion leadership where and when you have to report.
Type of Training
Field Training includes a wide variety of exercises that are designed to test your physical fitness and leadership ability. You will be tested on your survival training and your technical knowledge as well as your proficiency with firearms and air force tactics.
